Fish in Air

A fish swimming in the air. Ours is the time of no shadows. All that is left of us are memories. Give us your thoughts on that first. It makes its own weather. For whom do you write?

Come, great and dear soul, we are calling out to you, we are awaiting you. I am sure they have appeared so to me, and made many an hour pass away more pleasantly, as I have sat quietly on a flowery bank by a calm river, and contemplated what I shall now relate to you. My public display of grief is not the only thing that sets me apart from this stoic bunch.

Weather occurs at different scales of space and time. Walk into our fine establishment, and you will be welcomed by our favorite Gaelic sayings all around you. This pleasant curiosity of Fish and Fishing, of which you are so great a master, has been thought worthy of the pens and practices of divers in other nations, that have been reputed men of great learning and wisdom. The child leads a double life that involves a superficial deference to material strictures and a secret other existence in which he gravitates to locations, confederates, and activities that would be anathema to the society embodied in the mother.

Certain birds and insects, as well as human inventions like aircraft and kites, can fly in the sky. But it was too dark to see anything. As for sounds, there were none. The stillness was deathlike. True, there were the usual night-sounds of the country-the whir of night-birds, the buzzing of insects, the barking of distant dogs, the mellow lowing of far-off kine-but these didn’t seem to break the stillness, they only intensified it, and added a gruesome melancholy to it into the bargain, partly suspended animation with diminished or absent sensory and motor activity and subsequent lack of recall. Something meteorological, the systems of what they put into motion.

Piscator, I am. Sir, a Brother of the Angle, and therefore an enemy to the Otter: for you are to note, that we Anglers all love one another, and therefore do I hate the Otter both for my own, and their sakes who are of my brotherhood.

“There beyond you a little piece-dark something-a dull shape of some kind-against the second fence.”

Is it like a maelström? Like a tempest?

Act as though the shadows remain.

I will now take my turn, and will first begin with a commendation of the Earth, as you have done most excellently of the Air; the Earth being that element upon which I drive my pleasant, wholesome, hungry trade. The Earth is a solid, settled element; an element most universally beneficial both to man and beast; one could combine inside the same frame, elements not normally found together to produce illogical and startling effects. Well now, good master, as we walk towards the river, give me direction, according to your promise, how I shall fish for a Trout.

It is just like that with us.

But I will lay aside my discourse of rivers, and tell you some things of the monsters, or fish, call them what you will, that they breed and feed in them. Pliny the philosopher says, in the third chapter of his ninth book, that in the Indian Sea, the fish called Balaena or Whirlpool, is so long and broad, as to take up more in length and breadth than two acres of ground; and, of other fish, of two hundred cubits long; and that in the river Ganges, there be Eels of thirty feet long. He says there, that these monsters appear in that sea, only when the tempestuous winds oppose the torrents of water falling from the rocks into it, and so turning what lay at the bottom to be seen on the water’s top.

The results are startling, but this is what the science is clearly showing. It is human awareness that causes matter to fix into a single position, and reveal a single reality. I walk out of the room, down the long hospital corridor and into the humid evening air, an enormous river encircling the world.

I will return to my life and mother will return to hers.

Different from weather events, which are short-term and temporary phenomena, climates are usually steady and predictable, and shape how organisms and human civilizations evolve and adapt in any given region. He names the lands and the coasts he passes. Despite a series of storms and mutinies, they made it through the Strait of Magellan into a body of water he named the “peaceful sea.”

Pure psychic automatism, by which one proposes to express, either verbally, in writing, or by any other manner, the real functioning of thought. The Trout is usually caught with a worm, or a minnow, which some call a peek, or with a fly, viz. either a natural or an artificial fly: concerning which three, I will give you some observations and directions.

And, first, for worms. Of these there be very many sorts: some breed only in the earth, as the earth-worm; others of, or amongst plants, as the dug-worm; and others breed either out of excrements, or in the bodies of living creatures, as in the horns of sheep or deer; or some of dead flesh, as the maggot or gentle, and others.

The result was the dispersal of the original movement into smaller factions of artists. And now for the Water, the element that I trade in. The water is the eldest daughter of the creation, the element upon which the Spirit of God did first move, the element which God commanded to bring forth living creatures abundantly; and without which, those that inhabit the land, even all creatures that have breath in their nostrils, must suddenly return to putrefaction.

The clouds reflect shadows at sunset, and fan them throughout the sky.

Experiments to recreate the conditions of the lower mantle suggest it may contain still more water as well, as much as five times the mass of water present in the world’s oceans. The unity and continuity of the World Ocean, with relatively free interchange among its parts, is of fundamental importance to oceanography. What if you could learn how to access these parallel worlds that are being created?

No man knows, or ever will know, the art of fly-fishing in its entirety, and the present writer is far from claiming omniscience in the matter. You could be on the same plane as the dancers, broken up by them, or you could go upstairs and watch from above. At every angle, the dance sets its own agenda. These early birds came scattering along after each other, about one every five minutes in our vicinity, during half an hour.

This fish was almost a yard broad, and twice that length; his mouth wide enough to receive, or take into it, the head of a man; his stomach, seven or eight inches broad. He is of a slow motion; and usually lies or lurks close in the mud; and has a moveable string on his head, about a span or near unto a quarter of a yard long; by the moving of which, which is his natural bait, when he lies close and unseen in the mud, he draws other smaller fish so close to him, that he can suck them into his mouth, and so devours and digests them. A condition of apparent sleep or unconsciousness, with marked physiological characteristics, in which the body of the subject is thought by certain people to be liable to possession.

Gravity is one of the four fundamental forces in the universe, alongside electromagnetism and the strong and weak nuclear forces. Despite being all-pervasive and important for keeping our feet from flying off the Earth, gravity remains, in large part, a puzzle to scientists. The 19th century saw modest progress in the field after weather observation networks were formed across broad regions. A global ocean has existed in one form or another on Earth for eons, and the notion dates back to classical antiquity in the form of Oceanus.

The correct fundamental theory of fly-fishing for trout, with either wet or dry flies, consists in the closest possible simulation, by means of an artificial fly, of the form, coloration, and action of some natural insect then upon the water and upon which the trout are feeding.

The interactions between Earth’s atmosphere and its oceans are part of a coupled ocean-atmosphere system, the sea symbolizes the personal and the collective unconscious in dream interpretation, the depths of the sea symbolizing the depths of the unconscious mind.

And now, I shall show you how to bait your hook with a worm so as shall prevent you from much trouble, and the loss of many a hook, too, when you fish for a Trout with a running line; that is to say, when you fish for him by hand at the ground. I will direct you in this as plainly as I can, that you may not mistake.

Whether grandmother was oblivious to the pain she inflicted or purposely set out to wound me I will never know with any real certainty. Gravity has an infinite range, although its effects become increasingly weaker as objects get further away.

What tears are shed from the depths of this damp monastery?

The process of migration is ongoing, and we will notify you once it is complete. This is your moment and this book is here, just for you. Enjoy the journey, which hosts a vibrant array of sea life and supports a centuries-old local culture, and then be home to the world’s newest!

An open question is whether it is possible to describe the small-scale interactions of gravity with the same framework as quantum mechanics. General relativity describes large-scale bulk properties whereas quantum mechanics is the framework to describe the smallest scale interactions of matter. Without modifications these frameworks are incompatible.

Science seemed unable to account for this dreamwork, a theatre of incoherent dancing, poor and aping, a pattern in the atoms of one’s own mind, abandoned to an absurd caprice. The term light has been used in spirituality (vision, enlightenment, darshan, Tabor Light). It tends to ruin once and for all other mystical and psychic mechanisms and to substitute itself for them in solving all the principal problems of life. The gravitational attraction of the original gaseous matter present in the Universe caused it to begin coalescing and forming stars and caused the stars to group together into galaxies, so gravity is responsible for many of the large-scale structures in the Universe.

A sadness. A sadness so deep no tears will come. And yet still there’s hope. We are driven by the power of knowledge to solve today’s most challenging problems, writers also found inspiration in cut-up, collage, and other types of found poetry.

I’m realing a touch here.

They were now in a vaulted chamber, with fine shell-sand on the floor. In the corners lay all sorts of ropes, yarn, and boating-gear, and among them casks and barrels and various ship’s inventories. Although he climbed a mountain to look for smoke rising from fireplaces he saw no sign of human activity.

Photic driving also impacts upon the psychological climate of a person by producing increased visual imagery and decreased physiological and subjective arousal. Terrestrial planets will acquire water during their accretion, some of which will be buried in the magma ocean but most of it will go into a steam atmosphere, and when the atmosphere cools it will collapse onto the surface forming an ocean.

The Noise Berserkers induced a trance-like state before battle, called Berserkergang. It is said to have given the warriors superhuman strength and made them impervious to pain during battle. And you must fish for him with a strong line, and not a little hook; and let him have time to gorge your hook, for he does not usually forsake it, as he oft will in the day-fishing. And if the night be not dark, then fish so with an artificial fly of a light colour, and at the snap: nay, he will sometimes rise at a dead mouse, or a piece of cloth, or anything that seems to swim across the water, or to be in motion. This is a choice way, but I have not oft used it, because it is void of the pleasures that such days as these, that we two now enjoy, afford an angler.

But that winter the fish would not bite.

They lay to and waited week after week, till the month was out, and there was nothing for it but to turn home again with their fishing gear and empty boats. This form of trance could have been induced partly due to ingestion of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

“Stop! What have you been doing?”

She halted, and said with an accent of malicious satisfaction:

“Ye were conquerors; ye are conquered!”

My friend Piscator, you have kept time with my thoughts; for the sun is just rising, and I myself just now come to this place, and the dogs have just now put down an Otter. Look! down at the bottom of the hill there, in that meadow, chequered with water-lilies and lady-smocks; there you may see what work they make; Scientists think they’ve detected radio emissions from an alien world — look! look! you may see all busy; men and dogs; dogs and men; all busy, lunar phases indicating seasons and rain, the anwa (heavenly bodies of rain), and atmospheric phenomena such as winds, thunder, lightning, snow, floods, valleys, rivers, lakes.

He was timeless until he wasn’t.

Space is supported by its audience.

Umbrella for the storm: But, master, do not Trouts see us in the night?

Piscator: Yes, and hear, and smell too, both then and in the day-time. Or the time of timelessness was altered-both expanded and contracted-by the plague.

Cosy and comfortable it was in the smoke there. But as he thus lay there, ‘twixt sleep and wake, it seemed to him as if many odd things were going on round about him. Timelessness matters most when you have no time.

I choose dance to connect vastness and solitude.

Am I the one who is dreaming?

This very night, you shall be reading and then applying the concepts in this book, and that moment will be the starting point of your mastery of wealth, romance, creation, and mastery of all things in the physical world.

The boat shook the sea aside as lightly and easily as if its prow were the slippery fin of a fish, and its planking was as smooth and fine as the shell of a tern’s egg; but, look as he would, he couldn’t see where these planks ended; it was just as if there was only half a boat and no more; and at last it seemed to him as if the whole of the front part came off in the sea-foam, and they were scudding along under sail in half a boat. When night fell, they went through the sea-fire, which glowed like hot embers, and there was a prolonged and hideous howling up in the air to windward. And cries of distress and howls of mortal agony answered the wind from all the upturned boat keels they sped by, and many hideously pale-looking folks clutched hold of their thwarts. The gleam of the sea-fire cast a blue glare on their faces, and they sat, and gaped, and glared, and yelled at the blast.

Suddenly he awoke, and something cried.

Our Lord we ask you forgiveness from all wrongdoing so bless us with rain for you are indeed the provider of all goods. Our Lord Allah, we seek refuge in you from our evil deeds, so accept our repentance and bless us with rain for the sake of our children.

The sun baked and broiled upon the hills; but in the clefts there was a coolness as of a rushing roaring waterfall. The little knolls swarmed with bilberries the whole way along, and he felt he must stoop down and pluck whole handfuls at a time, so that it took a long time to get to the top, a state that is like being asleep except that you can move and respond to questions and commands like a person who is awake, the patient reverses perspective so as to make a dynamic situation static, to feel both ominous and turbulent, threatening a loss of anchorage in everyday ‘narrative’ security.

There is evidence that the icy surfaces of the moons Ganymede, Callisto, Europa, Titan and Enceladus are shells floating on oceans of very dense liquid water or water-ammonia. Divine illumination, the process of human thought needs to be aided by divine grace, a musical form that distinctly builds tension and elements throughout can be heard in the background of a scene in a restaurant. If an internal link led you here, you may wish to change the link to point directly to the intended article. Participants took turns writing or drawing on a sheet of paper. Since no one knew what already existed on the page, the final outcome was a surprising and absurd composite.

He consorts with the filthy ragamuffins of the district in an instinctive rejection of his mother’s social stuffiness and a desire to find companionship among the outcasts of society; thus, the use of the plural. The child most dreads the Christian Sabbath and Bible-reading; this negative reaction is balanced by his positive response to the working men of the district.

As a symbol, the sea has for centuries played a role in literature, poetry and dreams. Sometimes it is there just as a gentle background but often it introduces such themes as storm, shipwreck, battle, hardship, disaster, the dashing of hopes and death, relating to a dualistic view of the world, dividing things into either good or evil, light or dark, black or white.

I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality.

Extrasolar terrestrial planets that are extremely close to their parent star will be tidally locked and so one half of the planet will be a magma ocean. Many of the major groups of organisms evolved in the sea and life may have started there. Divination may be defined as a mechanism for fortune-telling by ascertaining information by interpretation of omens or an alleged supernatural agency.

We have traversed more than 100,000 li of immense water spaces and have beheld in the ocean huge waves like mountains rising in the sky, and we have set eyes on barbarian regions far away hidden in a blue transparency of light vapors, while our sails, loftily unfurled like clouds day and night, continued their course as rapidly as a star. The investigation found this particular beyond-body-control characteristic only in tongue-speakers (xenoglossia).

The life of the neighborhood goes on below, acting as a counterpoint to the novelty of the inner world being explored by the child, a world with heavy ochre skies and drowned forests. Divination often entails ritual, and is often facilitated by trance.

I went to the stranger’s room, and listened at his door, which was slightly ajar. I could hear his voice, and so I knocked. There was no answer, but I still heard the voice. I peeped in, the group looked for someone with delinquent trends and a psychopathic personality. Otherwise, the group would just settle on the verbally facile high-grade defective.

I tell you, that you may the better believe that I am certain, if I catch a Trout in one meadow, he shall be white and faint, and very like to be lousy; and, as certainly, it I catch a Trout in the next meadow, he shall be strong, and red, and lusty, and much better meat. Trust me, scholar, I have caught many a Trout in a particular meadow, that the very shape and the enamelled color of him hath been such as hath joyed me to look on him: and I have then, with much pleasure, concluded with Solomon, “Everything is beautiful in his season.”

The wild gorge, or dell, through which it passes, abounds in waterfalls of surpassing beauty, varying from ten to a hundred feet in height, whose rocks are green with the moss of centuries, and whose brows are ever wreathed with the most exquisite of vines and flowers. Here is the Double Leap, with its almost fathomless pool, containing a hermit trout, that has laughed at the angler’s skill for a score of years; the Fall of the Mountain Spirit, haunted, as it is said, by the disembodied spirit of a young girl, who lost her life here, while pursuing a phantom of the brain; and here is the Blue Bell Fall, for ever guarded by a multitudinous array of those charming flowers. The title of this painting is from a German nursery rhyme, “retelling of a well-known tale.”

Seekers of healing would make pilgrimage and be received by a priest who would welcome and bless them. He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain, that you may gather in your grain and Your new wine and Your oil, Your simplified forms and inspiration from pre classical sculpture, to persuade the public that Classical music is enjoyable by everyone.

The very best ideas are a result of diverse teams and backgrounds.

This temple housed an ancient religious ritual promoting dreams in the seeker that endeavored to promote healing and the solutions to problems, as did the oracles. The top of a wave is known as the crest, the lowest point between waves is the trough and the distance between the crests is the wavelength. It is the induction of trance through the sense of touch, feeling or emotions. And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it, “playing without memory.”

Explorers show a star-like mobility pattern, they have a central core of locations around which distant core of locations gravitates. Kinesthetic driving works through a process known as entrainment. Kinetic art encompasses a wide variety of overlapping techniques and styles.

This is the level normally experienced when you feel very calm, during light sleep or while meditating. It focuses on juxtaposing objects of different materials and textures as a way to spark new ideas in the mind of the viewer. In a method known as decalcomania, artists splashed paint on to paper, then rubbed the surface to create patterns.

A trigger event on the continental shelf may cause a local tsunami on the land side and a distant tsunami that travels out across the ocean. The movement is best known for its visual artworks and writings and the juxtaposition of distant realities to activate the unconscious mind through the imagery. The oceans are home to a diverse collection of life forms that use it as a habitat.

The old woman’s hideous features begin to disappear, and she becomes a beautiful woman. The prince starts to feel guilty, many female Surrealists experimented with cross- dressing and depicted themselves as animals or mythic creatures. Artists painted unnerving, illogical scenes, sometimes with photographic precision, creating strange creatures from everyday objects, and developing painting techniques that allowed the unconscious to express itself.

Ancient Indian Upanishads contain mentions of clouds and seasons. Non-periodic currents have for origin the waves, wind and different densities.

Father, the Bible tells us that the heaven is shut up and there is no rain when we sin against You.

Early attempts at predicting weather were often related to prophecy and divination, and were sometimes based on astrological ideas. The creative activity of immediate “in the moment” composition, compositions from the sounds of sky dome and Aurora Borealis and deep sea underwater recordings which combines performance with communication of emotions, sonic art, audio art, sound poetry, sound sculpture, experimental music and instrumental technique as well as spontaneous response to others which is well known for its concatenation of dazzling imagery, is just as memorable for its linguistic inventiveness.

The Mars ocean hypothesis suggests that nearly a third of the surface of Mars was once covered by water, and a runaway greenhouse effect may have boiled away the global ocean of Venus. Music too has been inspired by the ocean, sometimes by composers who lived or worked near the shore and saw its many different aspects. The Solar System’s giant planets are also thought to have liquid atmospheric layers of yet to be confirmed compositions.

And you are to observe, that he is very seldom observed to bite at a minnow, yet sometimes he will, and not usually at a fly, but more usually at a worm, and then most usually at a lob or garden-worm, which should be well scoured, that is to say, kept seven or eight days in moss before you fish with them: and if you double your time of eight into sixteen, twenty, or more days, it is still the better; for the worms will still be clearer, tougher, and more lively, and continue so longer upon your hook. And they may be kept longer by keeping them cool, and in fresh moss; and some advise to put camphire into it, for intellectual creation it must, even from the start, establish an anarchist regime of intellectual liberty.

The old woman warns the prince to not judge someone by their appearance, but he ignores her and declines her offer again. The piece mocks the inanities of Romantic commonplaces, deriding current practitioners as faroeur (jokesters) and outlining a new agenda for them as jongleurs (tricksters) conjuring up unsuspected visions.

If I come too close, will you close the door?

If the flashing body is set on fire and rushes violently to the Earth it is called a thunderbolt; if it is only half of fire, but violent also and massive, it is called a meteor; if it is entirely free from fire, it is called a smoking bolt. The first is generally held to have a distance, and erotic subtext, whereas the second presents an erotic act openly and directly. They are created by nature (geography and climate): wind, water, forests, plains, birds, insects, animals. At other times, it travels in crooked lines, and is called forked lightning. When it swoops down upon some object it is called ‘swooping lightning,’ hypnotic when you give it a chance to work.

They are all called ‘swooping bolts’ because they swoop down upon the Earth. Lightning is sometimes smoky, and is then called ‘smoldering lightning”; sometimes it darts quickly along, and is then said to be vivid. One is immediately struck by the almost surreal quality, and there is a marked sense of understatement throughout. But the superficial lightness and musical simplicity of the poem are wedded to a linguistic concentration and intensity that repays endless revisiting. The origin of Earth’s oceans is unknown; oceans are thought to have formed in the Hadean eon and may have been the cause for the emergence of life.

As research continued, there were also mythical and fairy tale connections to the folk music. Overall the purpose of folk music was for entertainment and dancing. Use our location as accommodations for your travels whether it be on business or pleasure. If you simply close your eyes, an interpretation that removes obstacles to understanding, you’ll change your brainwave pattern, and it will begin to slow down into an alpha state.

The poet presents himself as having gone to seed, laments the loss of his youth, and tries to transcend his own anguish in a call for a universal love. Visions of taming the frontier quickly fade one summer’s drought until a series of miraculous events rekindles the pioneers’ hope.

The time just after sunset, when the light is half-faded, but the world is not yet totally dark, is twilight. If you are between two states, like asleep and awake, that can also be called a twilight moment. Twilight comes just before the night falls.

Ocean planets are a hypothetical type of planet with a surface completely covered with liquid. The sky can turn a multitude of colors such as red, orange, purple, and yellow, inspiring visual electronic music, where artists combine elements of electronic and world music; interpretation of Surrealist ideology was an ongoing exploration of human relations with their surrounding natural environment and most prominently, with the sea, extraterrestrial clouds can be found in the atmospheres of other planets in our solar system and beyond.

A storm is any disturbed state of an environment or in an astronomical body’s atmosphere especially affecting its surface, and strongly implying severe weather. At midnight, as a moment of birth of a new day, dawn is used as a powerful symbol of independence as a new sunrise moment. What causes these colorful and dramatic light displays in the sky, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections, and when and from where can you see them? As the world ocean is the principal component of Earth’s hydrosphere, it is integral to life, forms part of the carbon cycle, and influences climate and weather patterns. The motions of the ocean surface, known as undulations or waves, are the partial and alternate rising and falling of the ocean surface.

The gas giants, Jupiter and Saturn, are thought to lack surfaces and instead have a stratum of liquid hydrogen; however their planetary geology is not well understood. These divisions are cadastral, defining land boundaries and ownership, rather than administrative. As it is thought that life evolved in the ocean, the diversity of life is immense.

Out in the fishing grounds the folks rested upon their oars and gaped. A trance is a state of hypnotism and heightened consciousness. Several nomadic indigenous groups in Maritime Southeast Asia, seeming to welcome a definitive farewell to a simple and convenient solution, live in boats and derive nearly all they need from the sea. Such a boat they had never seen before.

The Carp, if he has water-room and good feed, will grow to a very great bigness and length; I have heard, to be much above a yard long. It is said by Jovius, who hath written of fishes, that Carps have thrived to be more than fifty pounds weight: which is the more probable, and it is observed too, that he lives to the age of a hundred years.

The Perch is a very good and very bold biting fish. He is one of the fish of prey that, like the Pike and Trout, carries his teeth in his mouth, which is very large: and he dare venture to kill and devour several other kinds of fish. He has a hooked or hog back, which is armed with sharp and stiff bristles, and all his skin armed, or covered over with thick dry hard scales, and hath, which few other fish have, two fins on his back. He is so bold that he will invade one of his own kind, which the Pike will not do so willingly; and you may, therefore, easily believe him to be a bold biter.

The leader may be idealized into a kind of god who can take care of his or her children, and some especially ambitious leaders may be susceptible to this role, known for charisma and unyielding energy, and for brilliant pre-concert talks. Resentment at being dependent may eventually lead the group members to “take down” the leader, and then search for a new leader to repeat the process. It has its place in literature, art, poetry, film, theatre, classical music, mythology and dream interpretation. Are we missing a good definition for illumination? Don’t keep it to yourself…

Then she vanished altogether like a vision.

In dependency, the essential aim of the group is to attain security through, and have its members protected by, one individual. He would lay awake nights, and reflect upon his grievous abominable sin in lowering himself to the level of an uncanny monster, and right glad was he that he had cast the ring away.

I have to be emotionally involved with the story or the novel to be translated. It is the writer’s earnest hope that these pages, which deal so exclusively with the practical side of the matter, may, nevertheless, lead the reader to the stream-side, fly-rod in hand, where, as he quietly follows the stream and his sport, it will presently appear that the matters upon which we have herein placed the most emphasis are, after all, rather unimportant-that the true reason for the dry fly may be found in the sunshine on the riffles, the cool lapping of the stream about a moss-grown boulder, in the quiet of a glassy pool where the duns dance and the peaceful pines are reflected clearly.

This sordid emotional cataclysm surely goes some way toward explaining our desire for a new life: it’s hard not to feel that, perhaps for the first time, we realize that deranging this and other people’s senses could have serious and irreversible consequences.

Writing is a difficult art, but in some ways it pales before the work of a translator, who not only has to find the words but also express the spirit of an author’s work in an alien language. This act involves trans-creation or remolding the given text in one language into another, without losing its psychological underpinnings and cultural moorings. By employing fantasy and dream imagery, artists generated creative works in a variety of media that exposed their inner minds in eccentric, symbolic ways, uncovering anxieties and treating them analytically through visual means.

There, too, he heard tell of all that was beneath the sea, where the Mermen and the Draugs hold sway. The latter are gloomy evil powers, and many a time his blood stood still in his veins as he sat and listened. They told him that the Draug usually showed himself on the strand in the moonlight on those spots which were covered with sea-wrack; that he had a bunch of seaweed instead of a head, but shaped so peculiarly that whoever came across him absolutely couldn’t help gazing into his pale and horrible face.

Bizarre objects are external objects which, by way of projective identification, are imbued with characteristics of the subject’s own personality; they form part of this interpretation of object relations theory. No single poem really depends on the others or counts on them to achieve its own perfections. And even your gifts are sorted as to its very own perfumery.

Beyond the borders of this lake, but only half visible in the gloom, stretched swamps and morasses, where he heard sounds as of huge beasts wading and trampling. Serpent like they rose and writhed with a crashing and splashing and snorting amidst the tepid mud and mire. The stream now flowed along calmly and quietly, and broadened out continually till it fell into a large lake. By the phosphorescent gleams he saw various fishes close to his boat, but all of them lacked eyes.

Let us, on this winter night, from cape to cape, from the tumultuous pole to the castle, from the crowd to the beach, from glance to glance, our strengths and feelings numb, learn to hail him and see him, and send him back, and under the tides and at the summit of snowy deserts, follow his seeing, his breathing, his body, his day. Trance states may occur involuntarily and unbidden. Trance in its modern meaning comes from an earlier meaning of “a dazed, half-conscious or insensible condition or state of fear,” via the Old French transe “fear of evil”, from the Latin transire “to cross” or to “pass over.” It was undoubtedly the idea of efficiency, which was the delusion of that period, that decided otherwise.

Now the crimson and golden clouds are parting, and he bursts on the bewildered sight. One moment more, and the whole earth rejoices in his beams, falling alike, as they do, upon the prince and the peasant of every land. Gravity keeps the atmosphere from expanding much farther. And now for a sunrise picture among the mountains, with all the illusive performances of the mists and clouds. He comes! He comes! The “king of the bright days!” It was in the black mirror of anarchism that surrealism first recognised itself.

“What if there were no limits to aesthetics?”

It’s a beautiful question, and one applied to some more than others. At that time, the surrealist refusal was total, and absolutely incapable of allowing itself to be channelled at a political level. But it’s certainly an ideal toward which I aspire.

These interpretations often include statements about contact with supernatural or spiritual beings, about receiving new information as a revelation, and also religion-related explanations of subsequent change of values, attitudes and behavior, in case of religious conversion.

The bluish ocean color is a composite of several contributing agents. Breathing and heart rate have been shown to be affected by auditory stimulus, along with brainwave activity.

The cranky coincidences of an education. Activate students’ prior knowledge about the greater emotional power and poetic reality. We have to take this struggle into our own hands.

Students use prior knowledge, a photo gallery, and a video meant to be always in flux-to be more modern than modern-and so it was natural there should be a rapid shuffling of the philosophy as new challenges arose.

Tell students they will look at a photo gallery of extreme theatre that would be immediate and direct, linking their unconscious minds to performers and spectators in a sort of ritual event, created in which emotions, feelings, and the metaphysical were expressed not through language but physically, creating a mythological, archetypal, allegorical vision, closely related to the world of dreams.

Have students make connections between an induced emotional feeling, high, euphoria, chills, or uplifting rush that listeners claim to experience, or it may indicate an actual trance-like state, an old taxi rigged to produce a steady drizzle of water down the inside of the windows, and a shark-headed creature in the driver’s seat and a blond mannequin crawling with live snails in the back, celebrating the instantaneous human act as the well-spring of creativity.

Confidence in the attribution of extreme weather and other events to anthropogenic climate change is highest in changes in frequency or magnitude of extreme heat and cold events with some confidence in increases in heavy precipitation and increases in intensity of droughts.

A marginal sea is a division of an ocean, partially enclosed by islands, archipelagos, or peninsulas, adjacent to or widely open to the open ocean at the surface, and/or bounded by submarine ridges on the sea floor. Bathymetry is the mapping and study of the topography of the ocean floor. He was glad when he got down into his boat again, and pushed off and rode away. But when he got out into the sound, and slackened speed a bit, he perceived that the ring still sat upon his finger. His first thought was to tear it off and fling it into the sea; but then it sat tighter than ever. He cut the cable through with his knife, and wrenched the ring from his finger, and cast it into the sea, and off he rowed, so that the sea was like a foaming foss around him. No constraint, not the least trace of command, a state of profound abstraction or absorption, artists developed new systems and techniques for exploring the irrational world of the subconscious mind.

And he caught glimpses of the outlines of gigantic sea-serpents stretching far away into the darkness. He now understood that it was from down here that they pop up their heads off the coast in the dog days when the sea is warm. A bizarre pattern of bridges, some of them straight, others convex, still others descending or veering off at angles to the first ones, and these shapes multiplying. In the midst of the island there was an opening with a brazen flight of steps leading down to a splendid cabin. Whilst he stood there thinking things over a bit, he saw two heavy dog-fish swimming close by — they were, at least, twelve to fourteen ells long.

He now perceived that he was under water, but, for all that, there was no sign of moisture. He was on a white sandy bottom, covered with chalk-white, red, blue, and silvery-bright shells. He saw meadows of sea-grass, mountains thick with woods of bushy seaweed and sea-wrack, and the fishes darted about on every side just as the birds swarm about the rocks that sea-fowl haunt, women with tree-like legs stand rooted as mysterious figures move beneath distant arches overgrown with vines.

As they descended, the dog-fish sank down too, each on one side of the brazen steps. Oddly enough, it looked as if the island was transparent. When the girl perceived that he was frightened, she told him that they were only two of her father’s bodyguards, and shortly afterwards they disappeared. She then said that she wanted to take him to her father, who was waiting for them. She added that, if he didn’t find the old gentleman precisely as handsome as he might expect, he had, nevertheless, no need to be frightened, nor was he to be astonished too much at what he saw.

“You have more rope there, and I know it,” was the way in which she began the conversation.

“Here you are,” said his companion, and the rope was passed over the pack to where the other fellow was waiting to receive it.

“Come, let’s have a little more rope,” repeated the girl.

“There’s oceans of it here, and you can have all you want of it.”

“I will be in a minute. Here’s your end.”

Rain is also known or suspected on other planets, where it may be composed of methane, neon, sulfuric acid, or even iron rather than water. I have seen the rain.

May God open the heavens and let mercy rain down upon our fields and mountains. I tell her that I will see her on the other side even though I am not entirely convinced that this is true. I do not know if she can hear me but I choose to believe she can.

Then they went further on their way right across a deep dark valley. In the rocky walls above him he saw a row of four-cornered white doors, from which a sort of glimmer, as from the northern lights, shot downwards through the darkness. This valley stretched in a north-eastwardly direction right under Finmark, she said, and inside the white doors dwelt the old Finn Kings who had perished on the sea. Then she went and opened the nearest of these doors — here, down in the salt ocean, was the last of the kings, who had capsized in the very breeze that he himself had conjured forth, but could not afterwards quell. It’s an extraordinary sight, even more so when you consider the ancient seeds were borne from Alpine, Arctic and Mediterranean climates.

Her eyelids flutter but never quite open.

She does not earn her living by it and so is free to accept only material that interests her. Complemented by her radiant beauty, she enchants all men around her and ensnares them in her trap. This short but touching story is written about one hour in this young woman’s life, in the last decade of the nineteenth century, where her emotions are far from definite, rather than attacking men directly, flirts with them and drives them insane with lust.

I was utterly hooked from the first page to the last.

It is time for me to leave now. I don’t want to be here when the end finally comes.
